    Democritus (400BC)

    Democritus (400BC)
He was an influential Ancient Greek pre-Socratic philosopher primarily remembered today for his formulation of an atomic theory of the universe.
  • John Dalton

    John Dalton
Dalton publishes table atomic weights and developed modern atomic theory. One problem with his atomic theory was that it claimed that all matter is composed of tiny indivisible atoms. We now know that atoms are divisible and are composed of smaller, subatomic particles (electrons, protons, and neutrons).
  • JJ Thomson

    JJ Thomson
JJ was the first one to find the electron by using cathode rays he found an unknown negative particle and with the electron he is also known to be the first to find a subatomic particle Thomson faced two major problems: (1) how to account for the mass of the atom when the electron was only about 1/1000 the mass of the hydrogen atom (the more modern figure is 1/1836) and (2) how to create a neutral atom when the only particle available was negatively charged.
  • Niels Bohr

    Niels Bohr
he is the man that came up with the idea that electrons orbit the nucleus in a fashion like the planets orbit the sun so that is why he came up with the bohr model along with Ernest Rutherford
  • Albert Einstein

    Albert Einstein
He developed the general theory of relativity one of the two pillars of modern physics. general theory is the curvature of spacetime is directly related to the energy and momentum of whatever matter and radiation are present with ithe is also known as the father of modern physics.
He discovered the Atomic Bomb by accident, and didn’t want it to be used for dangerous purposes. He Unified the Law of Physics. He couldn’t have done any of this without his knowledge and love of mathematics and phys
  • Ernest Rutherford

    Ernest Rutherford
He was credited the first person to "split the atom" in 1917 in a nuclear reaction between nitrogen and alpha particles, in which he also discovered the proton this was helped by his gold foil experament and is refered to as the father of nuclear physics and found that the proton and the nucleus have charged particles
  • James Chadwick

    James Chadwick
James was one of the first people to find the neutron and by discovering this he gave the government the idea for the first atomic bomb because of the MUAD committee.
His calculations using Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle showed it was not possible for electrons to be contained in the nucleus.
  • Enrico Fermi

    Enrico Fermi
Enrico is most famous for his work on creating the first nuclear reactor and for his discovery of what he called the data decay for which the proton turned into the neutron while inside the nucleus.
The problem with Enrico Fermi's estimate of the strength of the atomic bomb which detonated at the Trinity test, based on the distance traveled by pieces of paper he dropped from his hand during the blast
  • Hideki Yukawa

    Hideki Yukawa
Hideki woked on the K-capture which is where a low energy electron is absorbed through the nucleus.
The paper in which Yukawa proposed the meson theory was written in English and published in Proceedings of the Physico-Mathematical Society of Japan.
