  • Antoine Lavoisier

    Antoine Lavoisier

In 1772, Lavoisier named the elements carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. He also discovered the role of oxygen in combustion and respiration. He also discovered that water was a compound of hydrogen and oxyge. He discovered that sulfur was an element.
  • Joseph Louis Proust

    Joseph Louis Proust

Proust proved the law of definate proportions, or Prousts Law. This states that the relative quanities of any given pure chemical compund's constituent elements reamin invarient.
  • Solid Sphere Model

    Solid Sphere Model

Discovered by John Dalton, it was the first atomic model that proved that an atom is a solid sphere that cannot be broekn down into smaller pieces.
