    Began in the US in October 1881 when Harvard University hired James Robinson to condition their football team [at the time that meant that he worked with track and field].

    Cramer family began producing liniment (medicated cloth to wrap injured joints).
  • 1950

    National Athletic trainers association was founded in 1950.

    The curriculum for athletic trainers began to advance and evolve.
  • 1972

    First female athletic trainer at University of Florida.
  • 1973

    First Olympics that athletic trainers attended to work and help athletes.
  • 1990

    The American Medical Association endorsed athletic training as an allied health profession in 1990.
  • 1996

    Athletic Training earns the commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) achieved status for the first time.
  • 2007

    Defined by the Strategic Implementing Team of the "NATA"
  • 2012

    Law enacted in 2012 required the Hawaii department of education and the Hawaii High School Athletic Association to develop a concussion education program for all HHSAA.
