Born in London, but went to college at Cambridge before moving back.

Was born in Ukraine, but moved to the U.S. to study. He will come to be known as the Founder of Evolutionary Genetics.
-
Born and raised in Germany, but worked often alongside of the American Natural History Museum.

This theory is a collection of evidence and ideas from many scientists studying evolution. It explained how mendelian genetics related to gradual evolution through natural selection. Ronald Fisher, Theodosius Dobhasky, and Ernst Mayr are amoung those who contributit to modern synthesis over the years.
-
One of the most important works of the modern evolutionary synthesis theory, written by Theodosius Dobzhansky. This book gives information from some of Dobzhansky's experimentsnon genetic mutations and chromosomal changes and the importance to evolution. The data from these experiments gives a lot of support to the modern evolutionary synthesis theory.
Without the works in this book, we would be much farther behind in our understanding of how genes effect evolution. -
Lived in the U.S.A.

This book, written by Ernst Mayr, had a huge influence on the modern evolutionaty synthesis theory. It showcases Mayr's biological species concept, which catagorizes species by their physical aspects, in corolation with zoological notions. Mayr also explains that when populations of a species gets seperated by some means, they start to differ through mutations and natural selection, and over time, that these populations evolve into a whole new species.

Gould came up with the punctuated equilibrium theory which states that evolution goes through long times where there isn’t much change, with short intermittent instances of evolutionary flux. This theory, although not accepted at first, came to explain holes in the records of fossils.

This is one of the many scientific books Gould wrote. It sheds light on the misconception the evolution is always progressing towards more complicated organisms. He points out that people overlook more simple evolutions, and thus are not seing the main point.
