Phenakistoscope

Oct 10, 1831

The phenakistoscope was invented by Joseph Plateau. It was a disc with multiple pictures, and when spun the pictures would appear to be moving.

Kinetoscope

Oct 11, 1889

Invented by Thomas Edison and WIllian Dickson, the kinetiscope was a "film projector" that was used to view films. Only one person was able to watch the film at one time.

Blackboard Animation

J Stuart Blackton started making animations on blackboards , after the kinetiscope had been invented.

1st Animated Film

Winsor McCay produced the first animated film 'Gertie The Dinosaur'

Rotoscope

The rotoscope was a complicated 'machine', used for giving photos a cartoon or animted like appearance.

Felix The cat

Felix the cat was an animated character used in comic strips and little cartoons.

Sound

The first succsessful animation made with sound was 'Steamboat Willie' made by Walt Disney.

Betty Boop

This show was very succsessful , becuase the Simpsons weren't like other familes. THey were vulgar and rude , and that gained them a huge fan-base.

Naruto

A manga created by Masashi Kishimoto , in 1997 , but actualy published in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999. This series gained a HUGE fan-base and was soon created into an anime in 2002 , and was finished in 2007.

Bleach
