"Fun in a bakery shop" was one of the earliest recorded films to use stop-motion animation. It came from the Edison Company film. This film lead the way for many future films and the development of animation.

Ladislas Starevich created a sort film called The Beautiful Lukanida. The animation was made using dead insects and later some expressive puppets. He also created "Cameraman's revenge".

In 1923 a company called Laugh-O-Grams went bankrupt. The owner, Walt Disney opened a new studio in Los Angeles that year and began making the Alice Comedies series where the main character interacted with other characters.

Wizards and Giants was a Spanish movie released on November 19, 2003 as Magos y Gigantes. It was the first theatrically released animation film made using Adobe Flash. It was also the first Mexican animated film in 30 years.

"Paperman," a movie by Disney was released on November 2, 2012. Computer generated imagery had already been widely used in many productions and films but Disney took a step further. Disney used 2D images and warped them to look 3D.
