In 1865 Carnegie left the railroad
and started his own company making railroad bridges from iron.

1873: Carnegie started his steel mill

1873

Eight years later he started his first steel mill.

1899: Carnegie controls American iron and steel

1899

by 1899, when he consolidated into the Carnegie Steel Company he controlled a quarter of American iron and steel production.
