    They wre now required to pay taxes on all paper they purchased and used. The Stamp Act was viewed as an attempt by England to raise money for themselves.

    June 9th, 1772 a ship sailed out on its way to Providence and the captain baited at the HMS Gaspee. Place is now known as Gaspee Point. John Brown planned attack on ship.

    Battles of Lexingotn and Concord
    Thomas Gage sent 700 soldiers to get rid of the guns and ammunition the colonists had. They also wanted to arrest Samuel Adams and John Hancock. Paul Revere was sent to warn the two men and warned others but putting lanterns in the church steeple. "One if by land, Two if by sea" was the famous quote.

    Paul Revere was supposed to warn John Hancock and Sam Adams that they were about to be arrested by the British. He hung two lanterns in the tower of Old North Church because they were coming by sea. "One if byt land, two if by sea."
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    Threw spies the patriots hear that the british plan to attack and so the patriots send 1600 to the hill to fight. The patriots are against 2600 british troops as well as there ships that fire at them. Two out of the three charges, the patriots were able to stand there ground. At the third they were forced to retreat. The patriots killed 226 british and wounded 828, but the britis still gained control of Breed's hill.

    John Thomas lead 800 soldiers and 1200 workers to Dorchester heights. The British planed to use there ships to help fight against the patriots but the storm helped the patriots set up for war. British had to retreat to Halifax, Nova Scotia
