Coercive Acts
Also known as the restraining acts, in England, were introduced in 1774 by the new government of Lord North. The purpose was to restore order in Massachusetts, following the boston tea party. -
Boston Tea Party
This was a political protest against Parliment by the Boston colonists, after being unrightly taxed for tea. A group of colonists went on board of three shiploads of taxed tea that was meant to be returned back to England. -
First Continental Congress
As a result of the Coercive Acts, a group of colonists from the north american colonies gathered together in Philedelphia at Carpenters Hall. They discussed the Coercive Acts and brought up ideas for Boycotting British goods and the signing of a petition to King George III. -
Paul Revere's Ride
Paul Revere lived in Boston and he was a silversmith patriot that played a magor role in the Revolution. He is most known for his "midnight ride" that warned the militia that there were British forces approaching before the battle of Lexington and Concord. -

Battle of Bunker Hill
This battle was fought in Breeds Hill, but was named after the adjacent hill known as "Bunker Hill." The patriots sent their militia to Bunker Hill after their spies heard that the British were going to try to attack Breeds Hill. The British gained control of Breeds Hill but lmany of their men died and many wounded. -
Olive Branch Petition
John Dickinson drafted the Olive Branch Petition, which was picked up by the Second Continental Congress on July 5th. The Olive Branch Petition was an attempt to claim the rights of colonists while still having loyaltly towards the British authority. -
Proclamation for Suppressing Rebellion and Sedition
During the spring of 1775,what set out to be a peaceful protest, ended in armed activity in Concord and Lexington. The king claimed that they stood fire and seized to fire back. -
Commitees of Correspondence Established
Established in the thirteen colonies. Originally when internet was around, letters had to be hand delivered and in order to do this in a more fast way they were carried on ships or by couriers on horseback. The first formal commitee of correspondence was established in Boston in 1776. This was charged with rallying opposition to the recently enacted Currency act. -
Common Sense Published
Published in 1776, this challenged the authority of the British government and the royal monarchy. Thomas Paine was the orgsnizer. He spoke to the people of America and was the first work to openly ask anything towards the British in peace. -
British Evacuate Boston
Lead by George Washington. Led a force of 800 soldiers and 1,200 workers to Dorchester Heights and began to take over the area. -
