French and Indian War
A war between the French and Indians that was part of the Seven Years War. It pitted with the North American colonies of the British Empire against the ones of the french, being supported by some Native American tribes. -
Treaty of Paris
The treaty that ended the French and Indian War. France gave up all of their territories in mainland North America which ended and foreign military threat to British colonies. -
Sugar Act
British legislation was aimed at ending the smuggling trade in sugar. British enforced tax on sugar, which was a cheaper tax but needed to be payed. -
The Stamp Act
The British Parliament enforced the "Stamp Act" to help pay for British Troops stationed in colonies during the Seven Years War. This Act required colonists to pay taxes. -
The Townshend Act
A series of measures, passes by the British Parliament in 1767. Taxed goods were imported to the American colonies. -
Boston Massacre
A massacre which lead to British soldiers shooting and killing a small amount of colonists. The event was mainly lead by patriots such as Paul Revere and Samuel Adams. -
Boston Tea Party
A political event that resulted in dumping 342 chests of tea. American colonists were angry and upset with Britain for enforcing "taxation without representation". -
Intolerable Acts
Punitive laws that passed by the British Parliament in 1774 after the occurrence of the Boston Tea Party. The law was used to punish Massachusetts colonists. -
First Continental Congress
In the year of 1774 the first congress was held with representatives of each of the thirteen colonies, but only twelve. A petition was sent to King George III to repeal the intolerable Acts. -
Lexington and Concord
One of the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary War. The battles were fought in Middlesex county. -

A pamphlet written by Thomas Paine to enforce independence from Great Britain to people in the 13 colonies. The pamphlet is 47 pages long. -

A small but important battle that took place on the morning of December 26th. The battle took place in Trenton, New Jersey. -

It was an agreement among the 13 original states of the United States of America that served as its first constitution. Approved after a debate by the Second Continental Congress. -
