  • Navigation Acts

    The Navigation Acts were used by England to control tax over trade. The acts were noticed by colonists and they rebelled.
  • Treaty Of Paris of 1763

    The document that ended the French and Indian War, over the Ohio river valley. It ended French power, and increased British power in North America.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    The result of the French and Indian War. Showed how Britain won, and removed the French power from America.
  • Sugar Act

    Made to renew the Molasses Act. Which was used to put a tax on imported molasses. Taxed sugar, wines, coffee, pimiento, cambric, and printed calico. Also used to regulate how iron, and lumber was being imported.
  • Writs of Assistance

    Gave troops a general search warrent. Allowed them to search any property for smuggled goods.
  • Stamp Act

    Used by the British to tax papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, other publications, and playing cards. Money was used to protect the American frontier near the Appalcian Moutains.
  • Quartering Act

    The Britsh sent 10,000 troops to the states to regulate the colonists. It made the colonists house them, and pay for it.
  • Declaratory Act

    To replace the Stamp act, by stating that the British had the same power in the states, as it did in Britain.
  • Townshend Act

    A tax on Britsh imported goods, that only made the states madder since they had no representation.
  • Boston Massacre

    In Boston, at kings street, soldiers shot into a small riot. They killed 5 people.
  • Tea Act

    An act that gave the East India Company a monopoly in tea, since they were the ones who had to import it.
  • Boston Tea Party

    It was a protest where a group called "The Sons Of Liberty" dressed as Natives and dumped 342 chests of tea into the boston harbor.
  • Coercive Acts

    4 acts passed meant to punish Boston for their protest.
  • First Continental Congress

    A meeting of delegates from 12 states to discuss the countries recent problems.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    The first battles of the revolution. The States were able to win them both, showing thier power.
  • Second Continental Congress

    A second meeting of the thirteen colonies, in which they discussed the war, and how theycould win it.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    During the Siege of Boston, and was fought at Bunker Hill. The British won, but had lost more men.
  • Olive Branch Petition

    Was a last ditch effort to aviod war with the Britsh. A documeant stating they were at peacd, but the British turned it down.
  • Common Sense

    A book written by Thomas Paine to encourage the Americans into this idea of independence.
  • Declaration of Independence

    A document stating the colonies intentions. Mainly writtenby Thomas Jefferson.
  • Battle of Trenton

    An important, though small battle, that the States won.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Was a turning point in the war, since the Americans won, and it made the French decide to join.
  • Winter at Valley Forge

    A terrible winter for the army, They were cold, tired and had low morale.
  • Battle Of Yorktown

    The victory of America and The French got Britain thinking about how much its worth to keep fighting.
