    French and indian war
    Known as the seven year war, it started due to both Britain and France wanting to spread their territory. Some British colonial force tried to gain some disputed territory but were defeated by the French. When the news reached the prime minister he ordered a counter attack but his cabinet made it public thus stating the war. The British were not doing good in the war until 1759 when they captured Canada. Tried to make peace but failed. At the end the British won.
  • Boston massacre

    Boston massacre
    A squad of British soldiers come to support a sentry who was being attacked by a big crowd. They let loose a couple of shots. Three people were killed immediately and two died later of their injuries in the victims was Crispus Attucks a man of black or Indian parentage. The British officer in charge Capt. Thomas Preston was arrested for manslaughter along with eight of his men. The Boston Massacre is remembered as an important event in helping the colonial public to the Patriot cause.

    An act of American colonial defiance served as a protest against taxes.To increase trouble the company East India, British Parliament adjusted import duties with the passage of the Tea Act in 1773. While Charleston New York and Philadelphia rejected the tea shipments merchants in Boston refused to surrender to pressure. On the night of December 16 1773 the Sons of Liberty boarded 3 ships in the Boston harbor and threw 342 chests of tea overboard. This resulted in the two sides closer to war.

    Battles of Lexington and Concord
    The were fought and started the American Revolutionary War.Tensions had been building for between the 13 American colonies and the British authorities.On the night of April 18 hundreds of British troops marched from Boston to nearby Concord.Riders sounded the alarm and colonial militiamen began mobilizing to intercept.A confrontation on the Lexington town started off the fighting the British were retreating under fire.Many more battles followed and the colonists formally won their independence.

    The Capture of fort Ticonderoga
    Located on Lake Champlain in northeastern New York Fort Ticonderoga served as a key point of access. On May 10 Benedict Arnold of Massachusetts joined Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys of Vermont in a dawn attack on the fort surprising and capturing the sleeping British garrison. Although it was a small conflict the Battle of Fort Ticonderoga was the first American victory of the Revolutionary War and would give the Continental Army much needed artillery to be used in future battles.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    Early in the Revolutionary War the British defeated the Americans at the Battle of Bunker Hill in Massachusetts. Even after their loss the inexperienced colonial forces inflicted significant casualties against the British enemy. The battle provided them with a very important confidence boost. Although commonly referred to as the Battle of Bunker Hill most of the fighting occurred on nearby Breed's Hill.

    The following summer with the revolutionary war in it's climax the movement for independence from Britain had grown and delegates of the continental congress were faced with a vote on the issue.In the middle of June 1776 a 5 men committee were tasked with drafting a formal statement of the colonies intentions. The Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence written mostly by Jefferson in Philadelphia on July 4 a date now celebrated as the birth of American independence.

    Fought 18 days apart in the fall of 1777 the 2 Battles of Saratoga were a turning point in the American Revolution.On September 19th British achieved a small but costly victory over American forces.Though his troop strength had been weakened Burgoyne again attacked the Americans at Bemis Heights on October 7th but this time was defeated.He surrendered 10 days later and the American victory convinced the French government to formally recognize the colonist’s cause and enter the war as their ally.

Known as the Culper spy ring Tallahassee's homegrown network would become the most effective of any intelligence gathering operation.

    Benjamin Franklin was an author publisher scientist inventor and politician. Franklin had little bit education. During the American Revolution he served in the 2nd continental congress he also helped draft the Declaration of Independence in 1776. He also negotiated the 1783 Treaty of Paris that ended the revolutionary war. In 1787, in his final significant act of public service he was a delegate to the convention that produced the U.S. Constitution.

    The Treaty of Paris of negotiated between the United States and Great Britain it ended the revolutionary war and recognized American independence. The Continental Congress named a 5 member commission to negotiate a treaty John Adams Benjamin Franklin John Jay Thomas Jefferson. Lauren however was captured by a British warship and held until the end of the war and Jefferson did not leave the U.S in time to take part in the negotiations. Making it be conducted by John Adams Benjamin and John.

    He has a Lieutenant Colonel in the French and Indian war.Was elected Commander in Chief of the Continental Army.Early he knew that the best strategy was to harass the British.Finally in 1781 with the aid of French allies he forced the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown.Washington retired to a field at Mount Vernon.Realized that the Nation under it's confederation was not functioning well so he became a prime mover in the steps leading to the Constitutional Convention.Then was elected president.

    American patriot Samuel Adams became one of the Independence movements most celebrated leaders. An organizer of sons of liberty Adams conceived of the Boston Committee of coordinated Bostons resistance to the Tea Act. Which grew in the famous Tea Party.He represented Massachusetts in the Continental Congress and was elected to the Massachusetts convention on the ratification of the Constitution in 1787. After serving as John Hancock lieutenant from Adams took over as governor before retiring.

    The Declaration of Independence and the US president was a leading figure in the developing Americas.During the American Revolutionary War he served in the Virginia legislature and the Continental Congress.Then served as US minister and also US secretary of state.Jefferson thought the national government should have a limited power on citizens lives.During his terms in office the US purchased the Louisiana Territory.Even though Jefferson promoted individual liberty but he also did own slaves.

    John Adams
    John Adams was a leader of the American Revolution and served as the 2nd US president.Adams started his career as a lawyer. Adams viewed the British imposition of high taxes as a tool of oppression. During the 1770 he was a delegate to the Continental Congress. Adams served as a diplomat in Europe and helped negotiate the treaty of Paris which officially ended the American Revolutionary War.Adams was America’s first vice president. He then served a term as the nation’s 2nd president.
