  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre occurred on March 5, 1770. In opposition to laws passed by the British Parliament, colonist started a street brawl on King street, but it quickly escalated into a deadly riot between British soldiers and angry colonist. The colonist insulted and threatened British soldiers. At some point without orders the soldiers set fired and killed 5 (unarmed) people including Crispus Attucks. This caused colonies to unite. The Boston Massacre occurred before the American Revolution.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party occurred on December 16, 1773 at Griffins Wharf Boston. Britain taxed the colonist for the French and Indian war without representation in the British parliament. This frustrated the colonist and caused Samuel Adams (the leader of the tea party) and 60 members of the Sons of Liberty to a political protest where they dressed like American Indians and dump 342 chest of tea into the harbor.

    Where- Carpenters Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
    Why- Colonist were angry at the taxation without representation and the unfair laws.
    The First Continental Congress occurred before the American Revolution.

    The battle of Lexington and Concord
    who- Colonel Francis Smith led the British soldiers
    what- British set out to capture rebel leaders such as Samuel Adams and John Hancock, and also to destroy Americas store of weapons and ammunition.

    where- Lexington, Concord, Middlesex County
    why- British troops went to concord to suppress the chances of war between the colonies and Britain.
    The battle of Lexington and Concord was the start to the American Revolutionary war.(The famous shot hear around the world)

    The battle of Bunker Hill
    On June 17, 1775, the British decided to take both the Bunker and Breeds Hill in order to have the upper hand. The Americans heard and went to defend the hills, but they shot once the British got near and wasted all of their ammo causing the British to win the battle by claiming the hill. (Most of the fight was on Breeds Hill)

    Thomas Paine's Common Sense Published
    On January 10, 1776 Thomas Paine created Common Sense to persuade and inform people on independence from England and so many people agreed with his arguments that his pamphlet was a best seller in Philadelphia selling within 120.100 copies in 3 months .
