    Britian and America fought against the French and their Indian allies.

    The Stamp act required colonists to buy stamps to put on all kinds of pruducts, like newspapaer. A protest folowed sofrtly after this.

    In 1770, a fight broke out between a mob of Americian and British soldiers.
    The soldiers fired into the crowd and five coloniss were killed.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The British placed a tax on tea. in responce, colonists dressed as Indians raided British merchant ships and dumped crates of tea into Boston Harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    Britain responded by closing Boston harbor, sending British troops and quartening them in American homes, and closing down the massachusetts goverment.
  • First Continental Congress

    Colonists from diffrent colonies called together a congress to meet and dicuss how they should respond to Britian.
    They agreed to meet again in May 17775, and in the meantime to boycott british products.
  • Lexington & Concord

    Lexington & Concord
    British soldiers marched on the town of Lexington, Massachussets, to capture some hidden guns. fight broke out.
    British troops contiuned to Concord, but minutemen fired at them from behind rocks and trees.
    By the end of the day, minutemen had killed 273 British soldiers.
  • Fighting the War

    The colonists had to fight a hard, long war. They faced several obstatcles. hey had few supplies and weapons,few soldiers, and Many Americans didn't want independence. Many loyalists and tories wanted to stay loyal to England.
    They fought on Bunker Hill, near Boston. When British troops tried to storm bunker Hill, they suffered over 1000 casualities. The American comander ordered his troops not to shoot until you see the white of their eyes.
    They had more fights too.

    They met once again, voting to create an army and it placed George Washington in command.
  • Independence

    Congress signed the Declaration of Independence.
  • Saratoga

    Saratoga
    The colonists won a major victory at saratoga, New york. This was the turning poingt of this war.
  • End of Fight

    End of Fight
    After Saratoga, the French began sending troops and ships to help the Americans fight the British.
    Washingtona nd the french moved their armies into virginia and attacked General Crnwallis's troops at Yorktown. At 1781 Oct 3rd, Cornwallia surrenders. end of fighting.

    England and America signed the Treaty of Paris. the english acknowledged America as independant and gave up alot of their territory. Washington's small army had defeated one of the most powerful empires in the world.
