    The first permanent English settlement in America. Around Jamestown there were Native American inhabitants in the area that welcomed the settlers. Jamestown was named after James 1 of England.
  • Mayflower Compact written

    Mayflower Compact written
    It was the first governing document of the plymouth colony. It was signed on the ship from England to the New World. All of the signers were all male and there were 41 of them.
  • Petition of Right

    Petition of Right
    Its a big English constitution document that prohibits the king from infringing on certain liberties that the people have. Has restrictions on taxation, martial law, forced billeting of soldiers, and imprisonment without cause.
  • English Bill of Rights

    English Bill of Rights
    Limits powers of the king or queen, and gives more freedom of speech to the parliament. It allows the protestants to have arms to defend themselves in the rule of law.
