    The first camera was invented in 1816 by a man named Joseph Nicéphore. The first camera was not super high tech, it took a very long time for it to take a picture. The first camera looked like a big box with a small hole that snaps the picture.

    Nellie Bly
    Nellie Bly was a journalist and Nellie Bly wanted to investigate the insane asylum but how could she get in? Nellie acted as an insane person on the street and was arrested and brought to the asylum. Once she got there she immediately noticed how the people were treated and the conditions. Her editor bailed her out after 10 days and she then wrote a book about it. In her book she tells about how the workers abuse the people there and how bad the situations are.

    The Great Chicago fire caused a large portion of the town to be burnt down. The real reason for the fire is unknown but there is a theory that it started in a barn where Mrs. O'Learys cow was said to have kicked over a lamp while she was milking her cow. During the fire the Chicago river caught fire because of how polluted it was and there was flammable material in the river. The fire was so bad that Chicago had to be rebuilt after.

    The Telephone was invented by a man named Alexander Graham Bell. The telephone had two parts, a part to speak and one to listen. The telephone had a great impact on the world because it helped let people know about danger and trading! Don’t get me started on how we use it today! We use it for communication, work, and social media, I could go on and on! The telephones first call was on March 10, 1867 and Alexander Graham said to his assistant Mr. Watson come here, i want to see you.

    The Johnstown flood happened in 1889 and was a terrible disaster.The flood was caused by the failure of the South Fork Dam and it overflowed onto the whole city because of the insane amount of rainfall. The flood left over 2,209 people injured and it also caused around 25,000 people to be left homeless! The one thing they should have done to make this better was to not build the dam on a hill because when it overflowed it went down to the city and if it wasn't on a hill it may have been better.

The equipment he used for the game was a soccer ball and two peach baskets. Basketball has had a big impact on the world and it is now played in may states and countries! And in case you didn't know some of the most famous athletes are known as basketball players like Lebron James.

    The first airplane was invented by the Wright brothers, it was not anywhere close to what we have nowadays. The first airplane was flown at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The Wright brothers researched the how to make their invention successful for four years prior. The first flight lasted for 12 seconds! That is not very long at all and if you compare that to today it is a fail.

    The Triangle Shirtwaist fire happened on March 25 at around 4-5 pm. The fire was started in a bin of cotton and was thought to have started because of a cigarette butt. When the fire started all the workers began rushing out but they could only get out one door and it opened inward! another thing that caused disaster is that the fire hose and ladder didn't reach to the top floor where the fire was. After this they made sure that there is fire escapes and that long enough equipment.

    The Titanic was the largest ship at this time in history. The Titanic held 2,240 people and the average first class ticket for the Titanic was around $4,000 (80,000 in today's money) There were many things that caused the disaster on the Titanic but one of the main ones was that the crew members got iceberg warnings and they didn't listen and instead went full speed. The Titanic started to sink after it hit an ice burg. In the end 1517 people died from the Titanic disaster.

    The Panama Canal helps big ships travel from Atlantic to Pacific. The panama canal opened august 15, 1914. This canal meant that ships didn't have to go around South America, which was an 8000 MILE short cut, as well as less dangerous. The Panama canal was very hard to build and took 10 years!!! President Theodore Rosevelt had said speak softly and carry a big stick while the canal was being built which means be smart and carry have backup. the canal is still being used now for similar things.
