    "In the winter of 1975, I saw Hassan run a kite for the last time"(55). This is the day Hassan had gotten raped my Assef while trying to retrieve blue kite from the kite tournament has Amir watched.

    "A month later, Martin called and informed me I was going to be a published novelist...That was also the year that Soraya and I began trying to have a child"(183-184).{Amirs path to become a writer is fulfilling, meaning he is self-sustained and has a job which should allow him to have a family, unfortunately, Soraya and Amir are unable to have a child, which foreshadows their later adoption. }

    "'I have to go to Pakistan'... 'Rahim Khan is very sick.' A fist clenched inside me with those words"(191).{Amir is saddened to hear about the poor conditioning of his oldest supporter and therefore feels obligated to go to Afghanistan to meet his request.}
