    Adobe PDF first started as a dream and idea to make an office filled with paper everywhere to one with none at all. He wanted to create something that could make and send any type of document to anyone with a system that would link up computers together to share these pieces of digital paper to one another

    Later it would win an award at Comdex in the Fall where the technology won a "Best of Comdex award" and it had a name at the time and it was I.P.S which stood for "Interchange PostScript". And in 1993 the tools to view and create PDF-files Acrobat was released but its first version was of no use to the Prepress Community and with its high prices starting at $695 for personal and $2,495 for a network also an extra $50 dollars for Adobe Reader but the prices would lower down and a free version.

    In November Adobe launched Acrobat 3.0 (Amber) along with PDF 1.2 specifications. It was the first version that was really used by the prepress environment besides form other prepress options were available to. Also what increased its popularity was was a plug-in to view PDF files in NetScape browser and was possible to link to HTML pages and vice versa it also made its way into the graphic arts industry. But many vendors tried to push it off the ground the market was slow to react towards it.

    The release of PDF/X-1 standard came out and it was major step forward it was made to fix reliability issues and was based off PDF 1.2 specifications.     This release focused on PDF editing and integrated cloud services. this increased sharing and storage for users if they needed it. They redesigned Edit Text and Images tools let users update text directly in PDF, automatically wrap paragraph text, search and replace words in a PDF file, and crop, adjust, or replace images.
