Acts of the British

  • Navigation Acts

    These acts were passed in 1660's but were more fully enforced during the 1760's. The European government listed specific commodities that could be shipped only within the English empire. The British made more money, and the colinist lost trade and got mad.
  • Proclamation of 1763 Act

The Bristish were able to tax them in the new area.
  • Sugar Act 1764

    Parliamentary measures designed to increase Great Britain's profits from the lucrative West Indian and North American sugar trade. Placed tariffs on sugar, wine, coffee, and other items imported by the colonies. Whitch made the colonists mad.
  • Stamp Act 1765

    Example of Stamps from British Government The Stamp Act required that revenue stamps be affixed to all printed documents in the American colonies.The British got rich and kept the money for themselves, so the colinists got mad.
  • Townshed Act 1767

    The Townshed Act had four measures enacted to raise revenue to pay the salaries of British governors and other officials in the colonies; taxed a wide variety of imports, including glass, lead, paints, paper, silk, and tea. The colinists were very mad that the money was not coming back to help pay for things.
