While in New Salem, Abe worked as a clerk. -

After courting for one year Abe and Mary got engaged. They had a weeding date set for January 1841 but Lincoln called it off. After meeting up again at a party thrown by Mary's sister they couple re set a date for their wedding. -
Robert was born
Robert was Abe's third son. Abe had four children, but Robert was the only one to live to adulthood -
Elected President
Lincoln became the 16th president of the United States. -
Civil War Started
Lincoln failed to meet the request of Major Robert Anderson. Anderson saw this as an act of war and the first shots of the Civil War were fired in Fort Sumpter, South Carolina. -
Act passed banning slavery
Congress passed an act banning slavery in all federal states. -
Emansipation Proclimation
This act declared all slaves, exept those in states under Union control, free. -
Slaves became free
Slaves offically became free under the Emansipation Proclimation. -
Gettysburg Address
In this three minute speech, Abe stated that the death's of all the soldiers that died in the war would not be in vain because it helped free the slaves. -
Amnesty Proclimation
Offered those who had not held a Confederate civil office, or mistreated Union prisoners a pardon as long as they would sign an oath of allegence. -
Civil War ended
The last shots of the civil war were shot. -

Lincoln was assassinated at Ford's Theater by John Wilkes Booth
