    The United States stock market crash spread worldwide and devastated economies. The stock market crash was the key factor in the beginning of the Great Depression.
  • The Enabling Act

    The Enabling Act
    The signing of the enabling act ended democracy in Germany and legally established Hitler as their dictator.
  • Spanish Civil War

    Spanish Civil War
    The Spanish Civil War was fought between the Republicans and the Nationalists parties. The civil war began after a declaration of opposition by a group of generals from the Spanish Republican Armed Forces. The Spanish Civil War was testing ground for tanks, planes and arms and could be considered a “useful experiment” because of the knowledge Germany gained about how war should be fought and the value of civilian bombing.

    The signing of the Munich Agreement permitted Nazi Germany to take over the areas along the country's borders of Czechoslovakia that are mainly inhabited by ethnic Germans. Germany, along with the major powers of Europe were at the conference, without the presence of Czechoslovakia.

    The Nazis final invasion before war was declared was Poland. The Poland invasion was the most significant invasion because it commenced the Second World War. The British and the French decided that Hitler had taken too much territory from Europe and they were finally determined and committed to stopping Hitler and the Nazis.

    Miracle at Dunkirk
    The miracle at Dunkirk began on May 27, 1940 and ended June 4, 1940. Remarkable fog and rain saved the Allied troops and gave them the chance for escape and another try at defeating the Nazis and Hitler. Allied troops had just enough time to save all their soldiers, transporting them across the English Channel from the beach of Dunkirk in France to the shores of Britain. If the weather did not drastically change and favor in the odds of the Allies, Germany would have won the war.
  • The Battle of Dieppe

    The Battle of Dieppe
    The battle took place on the French beaches of Dieppe and lasted over nine hours. Dieppe was a disaster, however it was a great learning experience and was a test for the full-scale invasion of Western Europe. The raid on Dieppe gave the Allies a chance to test techniques and equipment for landing troops from the sea. This battle helped prepare, practice and inform the Allied forced so they will do better in other battles during World War Two.

    D-Day/ Juno Beach
    D- Day is the day the Allies landed on the coast of Normandy in France during World War Two and launched the greatest seaborne invasion in history. Canada had a major role on D-Day and were the only part of the Allied force to capture all their objectives on the first day. The invasion was practiced many times to ensure perfect cooperation and timing. D- Day began the liberation of Europe from Nazi Germany.

    On May 8, 1945 the end of World War Two in Europe was officially announced. This day represents Germany’s surrender to the allied forces. In the Victory of Europe the Allied forces pushed back Germany and reclaimed and liberated countries that were of Nazi occupation.

    VJ Day stands for the “Victory Over Japan Day.” Japan surrendered completely to the Allies on August 14, 1945. With this surrender World War Two effectively ended. In addition, Japan’s surrender in the Pacific Coast brought six years of conflicts to a final close.
