A Long Walk to Water

    Salva ended up walking with a group from his village. The rebels made them split up into men and woman/ children. Salva wanted to go into the men group but a soldier pointed him to the women's group. They split up again and the women and children found a barn to sleep in. In the morning the group abandoned him.

    Salva had found his Uncle and now they're on their way to Ethiopia. Sadly we also find out that Marial was killed by a lion in his sleep

    The important parts of Chapter 10 is when the group was ale to sit down and eat a dead stork. The men for the Nuer tribe came and robbed them then killed Salva's uncle.

    Salva shows more perseverance now. His life has changed because he isn't as privileged as he was before.

    Salva is a 11 year old boy who lives in South Sudan.He's lucky enough to go to school and then suddenly gunfire erupts. There had been a war going on for 2 years against the government because they did not want to study Islam. This causes Salva to have to run as fast as he can away from home

    Salve shows perseverance in chapter 11 by continuing his journey after his Uncle was murdered. He said that he walked faster than before.

Along the way he met up with groups of boys and they all began walking together. Salva had become the group leader and led them to Kenya. It took than a year and a half

    Salva was now 22 years old. He lived in a camp in Kenya but he didn't like it. It was dangerous and felt like a prison. So Salva went to another camp.

    Salva moved to another camp. Thou it was mostly the same it was better. One of the aid workers had been teaching him some English. One day lists had been posted for the poeple who would be going to America. Salva's name was eventually on the list

    Salva shows perseverance when he was unsure if his new family would want him. When he arrived in Rochester the family was there smiling and waving at him. They gave him even more clothes like a jacket. Then, they started walking outside. The cold hit Salva hard. He thought of his family and began to tear up. But, he was determined to start his new life in America

Salva decided to visit and it took a week just to get to his old village. Eventually he did get to the hospital though. this conflict is Character vs. Society

    Nye finally arrives to the water. The water is brown and muddy, she takes two big sips. Then, she fills up her bucket and starts walking back

    Nya's mother learns that shes supposed to boil the water to make it cleaner. Nya knows that when Akeer has to bring the water she'll drink straight from it.

    We figure out that Nya has no shoes, because of this she stepped on a thorn, her having no shoes will probably make her journey long and painful

    Nya has to walk back and fourth to catch dirty water for her family. Now she has to bring her 5 year old sister along.

    Nya's sister had gotten sick from the drity water that they had been drinking so Nya's mother has to make the decision to take her to the doctor

    Two men come to Nya's village to talk to her Uncle which was the chief. Nya asked her older brother what they were talking about and he answered that they were talking about the water.

    The strange men are looking for water closer to Nya's village.

    Nya finds it hard to believe that there will be water in such a place because the earth below was dry and hard.

    Nya thinks that the crane is a "iron giraffe". She thinks this because there is not much machinery where she lives in Southern Sudan so she thinks it is a giraffe.

    Nya doesn't understand what the men are doing in her village. She described how many problems were happening with the water. She still doesn't understand how water can be found in the area.

    On the third afternoon of the drilling, they were finally able to get water. Water had sprayed out of the pipe while people cheered with the new water. But Nya wasn't happy. The water was still full of mud.

    The well in Nya's village was almost done. Nya was upset that the water wasn't clean. It was the same dirty water from the pound. Dep explained to Nya that it would be several more days before the water would be drinkable. Nya began her walk to the pound again.

    The men came to Nya's home with tools. When Nya asked her father what they were doing, he explained that they were getting ready to build.

    The well was finally finished and her father explained that since there was clean water all the children would be able to go to school including Nya. Nya meets the man who fundraised all the money to build this. it was Salva.
