    Azaria Chantel Loren Chamberlain is born, she is the first girl of Lindy and Michael Chamberlain, who already had two sons, Aidan and Raegan.
  • Azaria Disappears

    Azaria Disappears
    Lindy and Michael Chamberlain went on a family camping trip to Uluru, on the 17th of August their 9 week old baby disappeared and her body was never found. Her parents reported that she had been taken by a dingo. 300 people, including an Aboriginal tracker searched for Azaria through the night, but she was never seen again.

    Azaria's jumpsuit, singlet and nappy are found covered in blood at the base of Uluru, however her matinee jacket which Lindy claimed she was wearing was nowhere to be found.

    Ultraviolet testing helps investigators see what is not visible to the naked eye, on items such as a jumpsuit in this case, police are able to see more clearly marks like handprints, evidence of choking or bite marks. This testing is done by shing ultraviolet light onto an item of cothing, the light makes any invisible marks fluorescent and easily indentifiable.

    First inquest into the disappearance of Azaria was opened in Alice Springs. The inquest was broadcast on live television. The judge ruled that the likely cause was a dingo attack. He also stated that “the body of Azaria was taken from the possession of the dingo, and disposed of by an unknown method, by a person or persons, name unknown.”

    The Northern Territory Police and prosecutors were unsatisfied with the verdict. A second inquest was held. One of the scientific techniques in this case was the use of ultraviolet photos of Azaria’s jumpsuit which were analysed and the results claimed that there was a wound around the neck of the jumpsuit, and that there was an imprint of a small adult hand on the jumpsuit, visible in the photographs.

    Biologist Joy Kuhl investigates and claims that the blood found in the Chamberlain's car is that of a child under the age of six months. After much more investigation it turns out the blood is sound deadener which was sprayed in the car during the manufacturing.
  • Lindy Sentenced

    Lindy Sentenced
    Heavily pregnant with her fourth child, Lindy Chamberlain was convicted of murder by a jury in the Northern Territory Supreme Court. She was sentenced to life in jail. 19 days after Lindy gave birth to her second daughter, Kahila, who was taken from her a few hours after being born and left in her father’s care.

    Azaria’s missing matinee jacket is found bloody and torn outside of a dingo’s lair. Lindy had always claimed Azaria had been wearing the jacket and this would explain why there was no dingo saliva on her jumpsuit.

    Lindy Chamberlain is released from prison as result of the new found evidence. -Convictions Revoked

    Michael and Lindy's divorce becomes final, their daughter Khalia decides to live with Michael and visit Lindy regularly.

    The Northern Territory Government paid the Chamberlain’s $19,000 for the cost of their car that had never been returned to them. Lindy and Michael recieved a total of $1.3 million as moral compensation for their undeserved convictions, $396,000 for legal costs and $19,000 for their car which was taken apart for investigation.

    Lindy re-marries American Rick Creigton just 11 months after they meet while Lindy is on a speaking tour in the U.S, they live in Seattle, America for almost six years before returing to Australia in 1998.

    A third inquest began because the Chamberlain’s were seeking to have the cause of death on Azaria’s death certificate rectified to be recorded as have being attacked by a dingo. However the coroner concluded that the the cause of death was unknown.

    The film "Evil Angels" starring Meryl Streep, is released. It tells the story of the disappearance of Azaria and the inquests up until Lindy's release from jail.
  • Through My Eyes

    The televison mini-series "Throught My Eyes: The True Story of Lindy Chamberlain" based on Lindy's autobiography is aired on channel 7.
  • Last Inquest

    The fourth and last inquest is held and Coroner Elizabeth Morris determined that a Azaria’s disappearance and death was due to being attacked by a dingo. The case is now finally closed, and the Chamberlain's can finally put their daughter to rest, 32 years after her disappearance.
