In 1774, The Shakers followed Mother Ann Lee to the United States. Most religious groups came to the United States to find religious freedom.

Once they got into the United States, The Shakers established several colonies. The Shakers first colony was near Albany, NY. It was named Nikayuna; the governing principles included Celibacy and Agrarian communal living.

During the Revolutionary Way, Lee refuses to sign an oath of allegiance. This also lead to imprisonment for treason.

On September 8, 1784, Mother Ann Lee dies in Watervliet, New York. The Church is now lead by Joesph Meacham and Lucy Wright.

The first shaker building was built in Harvard, Massachusettes.

Church begins a new campaign because memberships are diminishing. Industrialization brings new methods that the Shakers cannot compete with.
