Contract clauses in United States Constitution. New Hampshire tried to force Dartsmouth to become a Public School. -
McCollough v. Maryland
The state of Mayland attempted to tax all bill snot made in Maryland. This went against the Constitution. -
Gibbons v. Ogden
Granted Congress the power to regulate interstate commmerce. Ogden didn't want Gibbons operating on his water and it got into regulating commerce. -
Worcester vs. Georgia
Worcester believed that the state of Georgia had no right to make laes that effected the Cherokee Nation. The Supreme COurt ruled in favor of Worcester in this case. However Andrew Jackson, the President at the time, went against this ruling and forced the migration of the natives. This was called the Trail of Tears. -
Scott vs, Sandford
Scott was a slave that escaped from his owner i the South and went to the North for two years and went back to the South, where he was arrested, He claimed he had been in the North for two years and had earned his freedom. He went to court where he lost and the North was very upset with this ruling.
