    Northwest Ordinance
    It was the creation of the Northwest Territory as the first organized territory of the United States out of the region south of the Great Lakes, north and west of the Ohio River, and east of the Mississippi River. It created a method of achieving state hood in the Northwest Territory. It also prohibited slavery in the Northwest Territory and all states created from it.

    Fugitive Slave Clause
    The Fugitive Slave Clause directs the return on a runaway slave to the state he or she came from. It was an attempt of the North to end slavery. It stated that slavery would end in 20 years.

    The Cotton Gin was created by Eli Whitney. It quickly produced cotton. Mass production of cotton shirts started and sales quickly soared. This brought up an arugument. The south say the need more slaves to pick the cotton so others could make shirt with the cotton gin. The North said that this kind of work should be done in a factory.

    The Missouri Compromise was a compromise that missouri would be admitted as a slave state, and Maine would be admitted as a free state. This created the 36' 30' line. The 36'30' line was a line that slavery couldnt pass the top of.

    The Kansas-Nebraska Act raised the line of the Missouri Compromise. It was raised to created more slave states. Debate increases becasue the North feels like this is very much favoring the South. This leads to "Bleeding Kansas".

    Bleeding Kansas too place between 1854 and 1860. It was a series of violent events that was between "Free-Staters" and "Border Ruffians". The Reason for these events was the question. should Kansas be admitted as a free or slave slate. In the end, the abolitionists (kansas) won.
