The Second World War

  • Germany Invades Czechoslovakia

    German invades Czechoslovakia, taking full control over the nation after taking pieces as part of the Munich Pact. Several leaders gathered to discuss ways to keep Europe peaceful.Hitler demanded parts of Czechoslovakia be absorbed into Germany, and British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain agreed.
  • The Soviet Nazi Pact

    The German Foreign Minister gathered with the Soviets to arrange a deal. The arranged two pacts: the economic agreement and the Soviet Nazi Pact.
  • Invasion on Poland

    Invasion on Poland
    This was the first act of WWII. Hitker made this descision, knowing it was a gamble because the German Army was not yet at full strength. Hitler thought this was going to be quick and short because he felt the worlds first armoured corps would defeat the Polish like nothing, and he thought the British and French Prime Ministers were weak and thought they would rather a peace settlement rather than war.
  • Canada Enters the War

    When Britain entered the war, Canada was automatically at war too. At the start, most Canadians wanted to enter.
  • Phony War

    After the Polish campaign everyone thought there would be heavy combat. British childern were shipped to Canada, while Belgium and Holland braced for invasion. The heavy combat did not happen right away, but did occur.
  • The Invasion of Norway, Denmark, Holland and Belgium

    It was basically Germany attempting to show their dominance in Europe. It was an attempt at sending a message to Russia, Hitler basically hated that style of government that the Russians were using, what better way to send a message then to invade a bunch of countries.
  • The Miracle at Dunkirk

    The British army was pushed to the beaches where they were faced with a total wipeout. When the England ports heard what was happening they all risked their lives to save these soldiers, they got in their boats and crossed the channel. 30,000 soldiers died, but they saved 338,226.

    The British government of Neville Chamberlain was in crisis as the Norwegian campaign crashed. The German's were on a serious rampage taking out many cities, most surrendered. France however, did fight back.
  • The Fall of Fance

    Just six weeks after Hitler's assult, France collapsed and ruined the power in Europe. Even though millions of French troops were dealing with the defence, Hitler's blitzkrieg strategy caught the Allies by surprise. This is when the Allied forces got trapped at Dunkirk.

    The Battle of Britain was the German air force's attempt to gain air over the RAF.Their ultimate failure was one of the turning points of World War Two and prevented Germany from invading Britain.

    Operation Barbarossa
    Barbarossa the largest military attack of World War Two and was to have very bad consequences for the Russian people.
  • The attack on Pearl Harbor

    The attack on Pearl Harbor
    In less than three hours, Japanese planes shot the U.S. Pacific fleet down. This was a very heavy air raid. After being hit by Japenese bombs the ship exploded.
