    Colonization of the Brazos
    Stephen F. Austin gets approval from Spanish Governor to colonize the area of Brazos River. Austin believed the land to be fertile.
    This was the "first legal settlement of North American families". This event opened up immigration, to increase the number of immigrants to 30,000 by year 1835. The first three hundred colonists were named the Old Three Hundred.
