    In the fall of 1609, Smith returned to Engand. Without Smith adn Pochantas to act as go betweens, the Indians refused to trade with the settlers causing the Starving Time. Because of all the trouble people had to eat dogs, cats, rats, adn even human corpses.

    England's king Chares II, refused to recognize the Dutch claims to New Netherland so king Charles gave his brother ownershipp of all Dutch lands if her could conquer them. Because of the English' damp gun powder they decided to surrender without a war.
