    President of the Confederate States of America for its entire span of existence. Veteran of the Mexican American war, educated at West Point. Overbearing ineffective leader.

    First battle of the Civil war. Fort was pentagonal in shape and unfinished when attacked. Union was attacked when trying to resupply the troops inside the fort.

    Known to the south as the first Battle of Manassas. Brought about by large public out cry for a quick end to the war. Consisted of a mad dash by the north for the Confederate capitol in Richmond Virginia.

    Winfeild Scotts Anaconda Plan
    The Anaconda plan was the northern strategy of encircling all of the southern waterways. The northern ships patrolled the Mississippi and all harbours surrounding the south. It effectively cut the south off from the outside world.
