    The invasion of Poland was the starting point of the war. German troops invaded Poland from the north, south and west. The german invasion started September 1st 1939 and ended October 6th of that same year.
  • 6 week Incarceration

    6 week Incarceration
    On September 3rd the British declared war. With this decloration RCMP in Canada moved forward and started to bring in poeple with questionable loyalty for incarceration in Canadian Jails.

    June 19th 1940, Italy declared war on Canada. With the declaration of war the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) began watching Italian-Canadian’s. Approximately 700 Italian-Canadians were restricted of their rights

    The French surrender to Germany was a shock to many people, it even divided any french people. The matter was tough that when Germany attacked it had far superior tactics.
  • Japanese attack of Pearl Harbor

    The attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawii by Japan was a Naval strike on the U.S. The next day the United States of America entered WWII. The attack was planed to wound the U.S. Naval units to prevent them from influencing the war Japan was planning for Southeast Asia.

    December 7th 1941 Canada declares war on Japan as a direct result of the attack on Pearl Harbor. That same day Canada also declares war on German allies Romania, Hungary, Finland.

    Six months after the the attack of Pearl Harbor the U.S. Navy defeated the Japanese Navy's attack on Midway Atoll. The Janpanese had planed to occupy Midway to extend their defensive perimeter. American decoders worked through the Japanese code and planed a ambush attack that sent Japanese Imperial Navy packing.

    In Ottawa June 5th 1942 the rationing began. Sugar was the first commodity to be rationed.

    The Battle or Stalingrad (July 1942 to February 1943) was a mark of the great clash between Hitler and Stalin. For the Nazi army the loss of Stalingrad was the foreshadowing of what was to come.

    D Day, JUne 6th 1944, is the day Allied forces stormed Frech coastline to fight Germany in Normandy France. That day 160,000 Allied troops were sent in of those more than 9,000 were killed or wounded.

    The Liberation of Paris from occupying Germany lasted from August 19th 1944 until August 25th 1944. The liberation began with a French Resistance against Germany.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    The Battle of the Bulge was a offensive of Germany that took place in Willonia in Belgium. The offensive was planned to cut the allied U.S. and British forces in half and begin a takeover of all the Allied forces. This would push them into a treaty swong in the Axis Powers favor.

    Feb, 19th 1945 marked the begining of the Battle of Iwo Jima. the fight was for Iwo Jima land between U.S. and Japan, it was over March 26, 1945.
  • Death of FDR

    Death of FDR
    Franklin D. Roosevelt was born January 30th 1882 and died in 1945 on April 12th. FDR became the 32nd President of the United States. He also died the first president to be elected four times. Roosevelt died of a stroke or cerebral hemorrhage.

    Harry S. Truman became President of the United States on Apirl 12th of 1945 after the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was the 34th vice-president and replacment of Henry A. Wallace in 1944.

    Hitler killed himself with a gunshot and cyanide poison, Berlin in 1945. Lots of people didn’t know where Hitler’s remains where, some people believe that’s Hitler didn’t die until after WWII.
  • V-E DAY!

    V-E DAY!
    V-E Day or Victory in Europe Day is when germany's surrender to the Allied forces was formally accepted. Germany only surrendered after their "fearless leader" Hitler commited suicide on April 30th and as he died so did his dream of aThird Reich. It was Hitler's replacment, President of Germany Karl Donitz, that authorized Germany's surrender.
  • Bombing of HIROSHIMA

    Bombing of HIROSHIMA
    August 6th 1945 "Litle Boy", one of two atomic bombs, was dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The atmoic bomb was the result of a topsecret goverment project known as the Manhattan Project, they were dropped on orders from the President Harry S. Truman.
  • The drop of FATMAN on Nagasaki

    The drop of FATMAN on Nagasaki
    Augest 9th of 1945 one of the largest sea ports in Japan became the sight for the drop of FATMAN, a large atomic bomb. FatMan was the second nuclear bomb to be dropped over Japan and though it missed the city by over a mile and a half it still took down most of it.

    V-J DAY!
    V-J Day or Victory over Japan is celebrated as the surrender of Japan and the end of WWII. The Japanese were the last of the Axis powers to surrender and so they signed the terms of surrender papers September 2nd 1945.
