    That day Nat Turner and some other slaves went and attacked some plantations in Southampton, Virginia they killed 57 whites most of which were children. In retaliation the whites killed 100 blacks. The north was furious they could not just go killing all those people but the south was raged they could not kill there people this added to the tension by them being mad for what both have done.

    Slavery which is owning another person started this mess it was the split differences in what they wanted to do the north could not stand slavery yet it was a big deal to the South’s economy. The south needed slaves for the crop picking but with the factories in the north they had no need for slaves so they mostly fought against it. This went back and forth with all the laws they all in some way or another were involved. You would be on one side and root against the other team not your own.

    The compromise of 1850 proposed by henry clay said that California could come in as a free state and New Mexico plus Utah got to vote. It also took away the slave trade in the capital Washington It also passed the Fugitive slave act which states,That the north would help catch slaves this made the north furious so they would not obey. But they had to and eventully they were at peace.

    Scott was a slave that sued for his freedom and his families they argued that though they were slaves that they lived in Illinois and that was a free state so they should not be a slave when it went the Supreme Court because they weren’t official citizens they could not declare their own freedom. So he was still a slave. The north thought oh the south is going to expand slavery.

    John brown attacked the federal arsenal in Harper’s Ferry Virginia they beat the arsenal but soon they were surrounded by the local army the battle meant the deaths of his sons and surrender He was charged with murder and hung on December 2, 1859. After death people believed he made a sacrifice.

    Abraham Lincoln was the last straw that was when the south was out they thought he was just going to take out slavery even though he said he was no going to mess with it. The Whole entire Democratic Party fell apart and split into two which made it easier for Lincoln. Lincoln who was out of a new republican side had lived in Illinois. He won and on December 20, 1860 South Carolina left the United States of America. War was the only solution of getting South Carolina back to the USA.

    secession meant that South Carolina was going to leave the union they believed that the north was failing to follow the fugitive slave act and now that Abraham Lincoln was president slavery was over which was huge to South Carolina. After South Carolina left Georgia, Texas and Mississippi soon followed. The states of Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Arkansas and Virginia would secede in the end to. They made the confederate states of America. This brought them to war. They just left.
