    First Plan of Aircraft

    Leonardo Da Vinci was a very famous inventor. He also did many other jobs like painting, playing music, and also as an architect. In 1499 he went to Venice, Italy and worked as an engineer to defend the city.

    The Montgolfier brothers, Joseph and Jacques, invented the first manned hot air balloon. When young Joseph was an ideal inventor while Jacques was more buisnesslike.
  • First Operational Helicopter

    The Focke Wulf FW 61 was invented by Germans, Henrich Focke and Gerd Achgelis. It looks like a propeller plane but attached above the wings are 2 separate rotor blades, with 3 blades each.

    Otto Lilienthal invented the first controllable hang glider. He took the idea from Sir George Cayley and experimented with it to make his glider.

    The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, invented the first motor powered airplane. They also invented the three axis control, which allowed a pilot to steer their plane without overbalancing.

    Sputnik 1, invented by the Soviet Union was the first satellite in space, sent to discover what was beyond the atmosphere. A few months later, Sputnik 2 was launched, carrying the first living passenger to space, a dog named Laika.

    Neil J. Armstrong became the first helicopter pilot in North America. He was also a geologist and helped to map Canada's North.

    Dr. Marc Garneau became the first Canadian is space. He went in to space on the Challenger. He later became the deputy director of the Canadian Space Program.
  • The World's First Ornithopter

    Todd Reichert invents and flies his ornithopter, breaking records for distance with his team. It was first pulled by a car to give it thrust, then released when it was airborne.
  • First Hovercraft that does not Touch the Ground

    The Hovercraft will transport people around without touching the ground, resulting in less crashes. It will be powered by an air engine, so it can not fly over gaps.
  • First Long Distance Man Powered Ornithopter

    This Ornithopter will charge up energy through feet and arm pedals and use it to travel long distances. It is designed so you do not have to keep pedalling all the time.

    This gravity zone will be used in outer space, to provide a comfortable enviroment for space explorers. And when people can live in space, this will also be used.
