Dr.Owen Beattie from the U of A discovered a trail that showed that the group of survivors had towed with them a boat full of useless items such as silk hankerchiefs, button polish and curtain rods. -
Two notes discovered on King William island dating back to 1847 and 1848
Searchers found two notes explaining that the expeditions ship had become stuck in the ice. It also said that 24 men, includind Franklin, had died and the survivores were headding south in hopes of finding open waters. -
