Valerie Hamilton goes missing
Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) Homicide Unit and Missing Person Unit are conducting a missing person investigation for Valerie Grace Hamilton. She was reported missing between 12:30am and 1:30am at 1228 Thomas Avenue. She is 23 years old and 125 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes with a distinctive tattoo on th back of her neck of three stars in a horizontal fashion. CMPD's Special Victim's Division (SVD) Detective A.L hart filed the missing person report. -
Update: Subject Association 11:00am
Valerie Hamilton was last seen at the Thomas Street tavern with a light-skinned white male. He is reported to be in his mid to late thirties, approximately 5'10" and 165 pounds. Subjec thas short dark hair with some gray in it, is clean shaven, and was last seen weraing jeans and a tee shirt. No facial hair description was reported. If Valerie hamilton is seen, witnesses are instructed to contact Detective Martin, the lead dectective in the investigation of her disappearnce. -
Update: Subject identified as Michael Neal Harvey 1:00am
Detectives with the CMPD found Valerie Grace Hamilton's body at the Mini-Storage Center at 4500 Monroe Road. Warrents have been signed for the murder and auto theft for Michael Neal Harvey, born 11/01/1975. He was last seen in a 1996 White Chevy Blazer NC tag ZXE-1756. It has been reported that the vehicle is either a two door or a four door. -
Update: Vehicle was found 1:45pm
The stolen White Chevy Blazer was recovered in Niagra Falls, New York. -
Update: Michael Neal Harvey is in custody 11:25am
Michael Neal harvey was arrested by FBI and US Marshals in Niagra Falls, New York without incident. The Secret Servie and DEA are accreditated for help in making the arrest also. However, Detectives are still looking for the stolen vehicle; witnesses are instructed to contact the VCAT with any information on the White Chavy Blazer's whereabouts. Police Chief Rodney Monroe is available this morning at Police Headquarters. -
Update: M.D preliminary results 5:10pm
The CMPD has received the preliminary results from the Medical Examiner (MD); there was no evidence of tradtional physical trauma. The toxicology report and the sexual assult examination kit are still being processed. It has been determined that Valerie left the Thomas Street Tavern with Michael Harvey voluntarily. There was evidence of drug use and witnesses say that Valerie needed immediate medical attention while still alive but recieved none. Michael Harvey proceeded to move Valerie's body. -
Update: Search Warrants obatained 1:42pm
Police now have search warrants for Valerie hamilton's apartment at 7824 Arboretum Dr. Apt. 206. They seized her bedding, clothing, computer, ID, credit cards, white powder, straws, paperwork, cigarette butts, scrunchie, napkins, camera, receipts, baggies, and stun gun. The second warrant was for the apratment where Michael Harvey was staying at 401 East 15th St. in Charlotte. Police were mainly searching for a cell phone with phone records between Valerie and Michael.
