    The Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation Ac (1763) forbade colonial authorities to allow settlement on Indian lands west of teh Appalachian Mountains. The act aimed at reducing the cost of protecting colonists from wars that the colonists provoked with Native Americans.

    Colonist dressed up as Mohawk Indians boarded three british ships and umped 45 tons of tea into Boston Harbor.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    700 hundred briish troops marched to Concord, MA where they heard that the minutemen were hiding arms and ammunition. They also tried to arrest Samuel Adams and John Hancock. Paul Revere and Will Dawes gave word around the country side and Samuel and John escaped. On that day about 75 minutemen fought the troops at Lexington and Concord.

    British Capture South Carolina
    The Siege of Charleston was one of the major battles which took place towards the end of the American Revolutionary War, after the British began to shift their strategic focus towards the American Southern Colonies. After about six weeks of siege, Continental Army Major General Benjamin Lincoln surrendered forces numbering about 5,000 to the British. It was the biggest loss of troops suffered by the Continental Army in the war.
  • Washington Resigns as Commander

    Washington Resigns as Commander
    On this day in 1783, following the signing of the Treaty of Paris, General George Washington resigns as commander in chief of the Continental Army and retires to his home at Mount Vernon, Virginia.
