DSM
A pipe fracture at DSM’s naphtha cracker undergoing start-up at Beek in the Netherlands, caused an estimated three to five tonne of hydrocarbons, mainly propylene, leakage. The explosion resulting from its ignition killed 14 and injured 107. -
Roche
Several kilograms of dioxin leaked from the manufacturing plant of Roche affiliate Icmesa in Seveso, northern Italy, and spread over a wide area. No one was killed directly by the leakage but there were concerns for the long term health of those affected. -
