The committee of 10 made a huge impact because they created a standard curriculum that students to complete for their schooling of 12 years. This system is still used today in our schooling. Without the committee of 10 our modern day core standards would not be the main focus for schools. -
Brown vs. Board of Education
This event is important because it allowed minority students an equal educational opportunity . White and minority students achievement gap was reduced bringing the education system closer to becoming a great equalizer. -
A Nation at Risk
This event is important because it marked the beginning that American public education was failing. The commission made 38 recommendations divided across 5 major categories: Content, Standards and Expectations, Time, Teaching, Leadership and Fiscal Support. -
Improving America's Schools Act
The ESEA of 1965 reforms Title I which increases funding for bilingual and immigrant education. This also provides provisions for charter schools while decreasing drop out students and improves educational technology. -
No Child Left Behind Act
The NCLD Act set standards for students to reach in standardized testing or the school may face federal assistance money. This program was set to help the disadvantaged kids to have the same goal as the advantaged kids.
