Summer school with grandma

1986

My Grandma was a second grade teacher and made me do summer school when I was young reading was part of it. I hated it.

My mom would read me

My mom would read to my little brother and me before bedtime every night. We liked the Chronicles of Narnia

I was a slow reader

I was a slow reader in 1st grade. I was above average in my other subjects.

In fourth grade I was pulled out of reading class.

1991

In fourth grade I was pulled out of my grammar and reading class and put into a really stupid class that was supposed to get along with others. It put me behind for the rest of my schooling.

I read Light My Fire

In 12th grade I read my first large book all the way through Light my Fire about The Doors

I started reading poker books

2003

I, like many others at the time, started playing poker after Moneymaker won the WSOP main event. I realized that poker books gave me an advantage. I read many of them.

I started reading for fun

2006

I started reading for fun. I enjoyed reading the Jack Ryan books by Tom Clancy until they started pushing conservative political ideology.

Guns, Germs, and Steel

2010

I started to want to learn more about subjects since I didn't go to college. Guns, Germs and Steel was a complicated book but helps explain why history happened like it did.

I started reading college textbooks

2012

I started reading my brother textbooks about constitutional law and things like that.

I went to college I learned to hate reading again

2017

I went back to college took some great classes and so completely terrible ones too. That's where I had so much reading assigned to me that I now hate reading again.
