    King George VI was born on December 14, 1895 at York Cottage, on Sandringham estate. He was the son of the future King George V and great-grandson of Queen Victoria.He had one brother, King Edward VIII, who only had 327 days as king. King Edward VIII didn;t even have a year on the throne.
  • Movie Theater

    The worlds first commercial movie theater opened. The first movie theater was opened in Paris, France. The movie took place at the Grand Cafe in Paris. Two brothers made the film and charged admission for it.

    A German man discovered the X-ray. The first X-ray photo in the U.S. was with Dr. Henery Smith. The first X-ray demonstration of a X-ray machine in the U.S.was in New York City. The X-ray is exhibited for the first time.

    King George had a stammer since he was eight years old. He had the most troubles with k's and g's. That is why he never said king or queen in his speeches. He had gotten a lot of help from Lionel Louge and his family members.
  • Duke, Earl and Baron

    King George VI was first created the Duke of York, Earl of Inverness and Baron KIllarney. He later married Elizabeth Bowes Lyon and she became the Duchess of York. HIs daughters were adressed as Princesses. Later he got a bigger title as a king.

    Whe he married Queen Elizabeth, that impacted him greatly as well. Queen Elizabeth is not only his love, she is also a big help. She believed in him and reassured him. She was the one who contacted Lionel Louge to start the speech therapy sessions.

    Over the course of the King's life he finially was over his stammer. With the help of Lionel Louge and encouragement of his family, he had enough courage to work hard to get rid of the stammer. Lionel Louge was the only therapist that was able to help with his stammer. Louge tried the complete opposite of the other therapists ideas.

    Lionel Louge had an important part to play in King George's life. Lionel Louge was the King's speech therapist, who cured him of his speech impediment. He was also a great friend to the King and his family. He was a great man and help many other people with their speech impediment.

    King George had to become the king when his brother, King Edward VIII, abdicated. His brother abdicated because he loved an American woman who had divorced twice, which meant he couldn't be king. King George felt that he was not ready to become king, but he pushed on. King Edward immediately became king when his father died.

    When his brother, King Edward VIII, abdicated, that impacted him greatly. Most of England didn't want either of the brothers to be king. King George also believed he was not ready to become king, mostly because of his stammer. He was helped a lot by his family; and his brother went into exile because of his love.

    The second World War started when Germany invaded Poland. On September 3, Britian and France were at war with Germany. This war lasted 6 years. There was war on the sea, air, and the land.

    King George VI died on Febuary 5, 1952. He died of a blood clot to the heart, at Sandringham. He died in his sleep soon after he went to bed. He had daughters and one was away on vacation with her husband when he died.
