Edema siteEdema is the accumulation of fluid in the bodily tissues. Edema means '"swelling" in Greek. It is mostly found in the feet and legs. Edema is sometimes a manifestation of underlying diseases of the liver, heart, and kidneys. Other main areas where it occurs are lungs, abdomen, and the chest. Two types of edema are pitting and non-pitting edema. Pitting edema is when the swollen area shows indentations from socks. Non-pitting edema is does not show a indentation.
