    The first election at which women used both the right to vote and stand for election was the 1903 election, held on 16 December 1903. The government of the newly formed Commonwealth of Australia passed the Commonwealth Franchise Act 1902 allowing most women to both vote and stand in the federal election of 1903.

    John F. Kennedy was the 35th President of the United States. JFK defeated his candidate, Richard Nixon in the US presidential election. He was President for just under three years, and was assassinated on November 22nd, 1963. Lee Harvey Oswald was charged with his murder, but was shot and killed by Jack Ruby before standing trial.

    Neil Armstrong was said to be the first man on the moon, shortly followed by Edwin "Buzz"Aldrin Jr. This was following the race between the Russians and the Americans to get to the moon. America won. There is doubt surrounding this, however, as some details are not accurate to the conditions on the moon, so many people belive that the moon landing was faked.

    On the 4th May, 1979 Margaret Thatcher becomes the first ever woman to be Prime Minister. Her nickname was 'The Iron Lady'. A film was made in 2011, called 'The Iron Lady', that focused on her life, and time she was Prime Minister. She is portrayed in this by 3-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep.
