  • USB flash drive

    These drives, which were also known as jump drives or memory sticks, had flash memory and a USB interface in a small, portable package. They could be used for file backup, file transmission, and data storage on many devices. When compared to prior storage devices, they were speedier and could hold more data.
  • BitTorrent

    BitTorrent, Inc. introduces BitTorrent, a peer-to-peer file-sharing service. It was created by Bram Cohen and started off as an open-source application before switching to a closed-source model in 2005. Users were able to upload and acquire media using BitTorrent, mainly music and movies.
  • Release of Mac OS X

    Given that it was based on the Unix-like operating systems FreeBSD, NetBSD, and NeXTSTEP/OpenStep, it marked a substantial shift from the original Mac OS. Multiple apps could run simultaneously and more efficiently because of OS X's more dependable and stable framework.
  • Dropbox

    Arash Ferdowsi and Drew Houston invented Dropbox. Dropbox was created as a cloud-based solution for easy file access and storage. On any of their devices or PCs that had the Dropbox app installed, users could quickly view the files they had uploaded via the web to Dropbox's huge server farms.
  • First 1 TB hard disk drive (HDD)

    The first 1 TB hard disk drive (HDD) has been announced by Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. The five 3.5-inch, 200 GB platters in the Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 revolved at a speed of 7,200 RPM. In contrast, the IBM RAMAC 350, the first HDD ever made, had a storage capacity of about 3.75 MB.
