  • Playstation 2

    Inventor: Sony Computer Entertainment
    Sony pushed the industry forward with their next generation console. At this point, video games had become the norm for all households. The cherry on top for some, was that you could play DVD's on it as well.
  • iPod

    Inventor: Apple Inc.
    The 2000s marked a shift from portable CD players to portable media players. The iPod wasn't the only one, but they were the ones to beat. Having a portable media player meant we no longer had to lug a book full of CD's around, or have to pick one CD when on the go.
  • Facebook

    Inventor: Mark Zuckerberg
    Social media websites like Myspace were already around, but Facebook is where everyone got onboard. Facebook was how everyone kept in touch, via posts, comments, pictures and videos. By the end of the decade, Facebook boasted about 500 million users!
  • YouTube

    Inventors: Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, Jawed Karim
    It would have been hard to imagine YouTube as a social media platform at the time, because it was so different from Myspace or Facebook, but that's what it was. People from all around the world now had a way to share videos with others. Now, it's evolved to the point where it's a complete replacement for television.

    Inventor: Microsoft
    Windows 7 was a breath of fresh air after the less successful Windows Vista. It was packed with features, and it seemed like everyone was raving about it. Maybe that was just a response to Apple fanatics. Go into any doctor or dentist office and you might find that they still use Windows 7.
