    -The Persian Gulf War was the conflict fought early 1991 when the U.S. and a coalition of other countries fought to liberate Kuwait from Iraqi control. On January 16, 1991, coalition forces launched Operation Desert Storm. After six weeks of air strikes, the ground war began. After only 100 hours of fighting, President Bush declared victory, Iraq accepted the cease-fire terms and Kuwait was liberated.
