    A handheld, pocket sized calculator. This calculator was the first to use Large Scale Integrated(LSI) Circuits, which made it possible for the device to be small enough to be easily carried around.
  • Intel 4004 Microprocessor

    Intel 4004 Microprocessor

    Intel, which wasn't nearly as well known then, created what was considered the first 'microprocessor'. It was designed for a Japanese calculator manufacturer to reduce sale costs by Federico Faggin. The CPU was the most advanced integrated circuit (IC) design up until that time.

    The first mobile phone was invented by Dr. Martin Cooper, an American engineer, working for Motorola. It was a working prototype, and made the first cellular call. While the call was brief, and it was only a prototype. It set the path for the actual first cellphone.

    The first desktop computer sold by a hardly known company called Apple. The designer and builder of the computer was Steve Wozniak. It was a single etched and silkscreened circuit board, meaning it was a bare-board with no electronic parts. It had to be connected to a TV and keyboard.

    The first device to allow customers to listen to music of their choice on the go. It first went on sale in Japan but was soon released internationally. The device was predicted to only sell about 5,000. The Walkman ended up selling 30,000 in just the first two months.
