    The Korean War
    On June 25 of 1950, North Korean troops cross the 38th parallel into South Korea. Leading to a 3 year war between the northern and southern Koreans. This caused the split of Korea the the 38th parallel into North Korea (The communist influenced side) and South Korea (The Democratic side). This became the Korean Demilitarized Zone.

    Literature censorship board in Georgia
    Georgia approves the first literature censorship board in the United States, for the censorship of inappropriate literature such as "God’s Little Acre". It initially went by the name Georgia Literature Commission, but its goal was to block all obscene literature from the people. It was ended in 1973 due to it being seen as "silly"

    On April 7th of 1954, President Eisenhower gives his "domino theory" speech explaining in depth the spread of communism.   • Sit-Ins

    Sit-Ins
    In Greensboro, North Carolina, four African-American students begin a sit-in at a segregated Woolworth's lunch counter, which sparked similar protests around the country. They were attacked, beaten, and arrested for simply not sitting at "the correct area". This led to the desegregation of the Woolworth lunch counter on July 25, 1960.

    The US announces that 3,500 American soldiers will be sent to Vietnam to aid the southern vietnamese. The war began in 1955, spanning 19 years.     The term ZIP is an acronym for Zone Improvement Plan,which was chosen to suggest that the mail travels with greater efficiency. They are also used for many other purposes such as gathering geographical statistics in the US, credit card authorization, and the ability to "Find Your Representative" through the use of your zip code on the U.S. House of Representatives website

    The Buffalo Riot of 1967
    In the city Buffalo,New York, from June 26 to July 1, 1967, groups of Black youth cruised the neighborhood of William Street and Jefferson Avenue breaking car and store windows.     Shoichi Yokoi
    Japanese soldier Shoichi Yokoi is discovered in Guam, hiding in an underground jungle cave for 28 years, becoming the third-to-last Japanese soldier to surrender after the war. He stated "We Japanese soldiers were told to prefer death to the disgrace of getting captured alive."

    The wiretapping at the Watergate office complex. This led to the arrest of US Attorney General John N. Mitchell, former White House aides H. R.   • The Copyright Act of 1976

    The Copyright Act of 1976
    This act spells out the basic rights of copyright holders, arranged the principle of "fair use". It became a public Law on October 19, 1976. It went into full effect on January 1, 1978. I showed the importance of protecting the original owner of products, so that they would not be stolen.
  • The War on Drugs

    The US government had a campaign that promoted the prohibition of illegal drugs. On November 18th president Ronald Reagan signed a bill that would result in the death penalty to all murderous drug traffickers. He also passed the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986, this act gave a minimum sentence of 5 years without parole for possession of 5 grams of crack cocaine.
  • The End of the Cold War

    The End of the Cold War
    On December 24th through the 25th as President of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev resigns and the Soviet Union began to dissolve. Gorbachev stated "I hereby discontinue my activities at the post of President of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics." as he resigned. And on December 25, at 7:32 p.m. Moscow time, after Gorbachev left the Kremlin, the Soviet flag was lowered for the last time.
