    This was to help veterans returning from world war II. They got one year of pay while they can continue their education. they also got the option of low-interest loans for them to start a business or farm.
  • World War II ends in Europe

    A week after Hitler committed suicide, Germany and the rest of the Axis powers surrendered. The day known as VE day is when the allied powers won.

    Japan was forced to surrender, ending the war here when the US dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
  • Committee on Civi rights

    This was created by President Harry S. Truman. This investigated the status of civil rights in the country and how to strengthen and better them.
  • 22nd amendment created

    After Rosevelt was president for 3 terms this began a discussion over how long the presidents should be allowed to serve. This said that a president could only serve 2 terms.
  • CIA is created

    President Harry Truman created the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). This was so that they could secretly fund intelligence operations and conduct actions without the government procedures.
  • The Marshall plan

    This was a US program giving aid to western Europe following World War II. They gained over $15 billion to help. This was also called the European Recovery Project.
  • The NSA is created

    President Harry S. Truman created the NSA (National Security Agency). they were able to identify threats and come up with codes so that the enemies do not find out about their plans.
  • Dwight D. Eisenhower becomes president

    He served in World War II as a general. his goals for his presidency were to reduce federal deficits and stop the spread of communism.
