    The Port Chicago disaster occurred at the Port Chicago Naval Magazine in Port Chicago, California and was a deadly munitions explosion. Three hundred and twenty were killed and three hundred and ninety were injured. The tragedy occurred because an ammunition ship exploded while being loaded due to poor procedures and lack of the training its employees.
