The Battle resulted in the defeat of the Imperial Japanese Navy inflicting devastating damage to the fleet and was one of the most decisive blows in Naval history. -

The Invasion of Italy September 3, 1943- September 16, 1943 was when the Allies landed troops in Italy to stop support that they were giving to Germany. They believed invading Italy would remove it from the fight and the Axis powers in the Mediterranean Sea which would open supply routes for the Allies. -

D-Day was the largest seaborne invasion in history. It began the liberation of German occupied northwestern Europe from Nazi control and made victory possible for the allies on the Western front. It came at a cost of many lives on both sides Germany lost about 4,000-9,000 men and the allies lost about 10,000 men with 4,414 confirmed dead. -
